Dr. David Kemp earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Dr. Kemp earned his Doctor of Dental Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis. He completed his Orthodontic Residency and earned his postdoctoral Master of Science degree in Orthodontics from the University of Tennessee at Memphis. He opened the doors of Kemp Orthodontics in July of 1986 and has over 39 years of creating beautiful smiles and happy patients.
Dr. Kemp continues to further his education by participating in and lecturing to various dental study clubs, both locally and internationally. Dr. Kemp continues to work closely in an advisory capacity with several companies where he helps to push the application of cutting-edge technology in the orthodontic field. Like Dr. Rice and Dr. Celani, Dr. Kemp sees patients in all three of their office locations: Franklin, Brentwood, and Spring Hill each week. He enjoys helping people achieve their most beautiful smiles.
Dr. Kemp is married to Rhonda McMillen Kemp, who owns a creative management firm. In her spare time, she is a freelance writer whose specialty is family history research. The Kemps are active in many local philanthropies, including Feed America First and the Williamson County Homeless Initiative. They love ballroom dancing, and Dr. Kemp holds several trophies for his ballroom dancing competitions. The Kemps love to travel, make wine, and play golf, especially with their close circle of friends. But the Kemp family’s favorite activity is spending time with their granddaughter.
Dr. Alec Rice is a native of Carmi, Illinois, a rural agricultural community in southeast Illinois. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, earning the highest academic honor of Bronze Tablet. Dr. Rice attended dental school at Southern Illinois University located near the St. Louis metroplex where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree. He graduated as the top student in his dental class earning him the prestigious Alpha Omega award. Following dental school, Dr. Rice completed a three-year orthodontic residency at one of the top orthodontic programs in the country.
He attended Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry located in Dallas, Texas. He earned his Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and Orthodontics. Dr. Rice is a published author as his orthodontic thesis appeared in the American Association of Orthodontics academic journal and won an award for research publication. While in residency, Dr. Rice had the opportunity to train with the renowned craniofacial team at Dallas Children’s Hospital, with emphasis on orthodontic cleft lip and palate treatment. This training has led Dr. Rice to join the cleft and craniofacial team at the Monroe Carrell Jr. Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Dr. Rice’s training and orthodontic philosophy includes complete patient care including airway and functional health as well as amazing smile esthetics!
Outside of the office, Dr. Rice enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Brielle and their English Cream Golden Retriever, Aspen. Dr. Rice and Brielle were blessed to welcome a baby girl in March 2023 named Elysia. Dr. Rice loves being a girl dad, watching sports, and experiencing the outdoors! Prior to his orthodontic career, Dr. Rice worked on his families’ agriculture farm growing corn, wheat, soybeans, and cucumbers for Vlasic pickles. You can see him at most Tennessee Titans home
games or Nashville Predator Hockey games. Dr. Rice joined the Kemp & Rice Orthodontics team as a partner in 2016 and truly enjoys providing patients with smiles that last a lifetime!
Dr. Beth Celani is passionate about combining clinical excellence with a personal touch to create confident, beautiful smiles. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from the University of South Carolina Honors College where she was actively involved in campus life and community service. Dr. Celani went on to graduate first in her class from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
Dr. Celani, like Dr. Rice, completed her orthodontic residency at the prestigious Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas—formerly known as Baylor and widely recognized as one of the top orthodontic programs in the country. There, she earned both her Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master’s degree in Oral Biology. During her time in residency, she was honored with the Baylor Orthodontic Oscar (“BOO”) for the best treated case in her program.
As part of her advanced training, Dr. Celani worked alongside the renowned craniofacial team at Dallas Children’s Hospital, gaining specialized experience in the orthodontic treatment of cleft lip and palate. She brings a comprehensive and compassionate approach to every patient, focusing on both esthetics and function to ensure results that inspire confidence and well-being.
Outside the office, Dr. Celani enjoys an active lifestyle and spending time with her family. She met her husband, Matt Celani, at the University of South Carolina in 2015, and they were married in March 2024. They now share their home with two beloved golden retrievers, Cola and Dallas. Whether she’s trying new workout classes, taking her dogs on long walks in the neighborhood, or hosting book club with her friends, Dr. Celani values meaningful connections and community. She and Matt are thrilled to be putting down roots in Middle Tennessee and look forward to growing their family and giving back to the community they now call home.
